In this episode of the Straight-Line Podcast, Johan and Mandy van der Put discuss Chapter 17 of the book *Inner Stance: Living Beyond the Childish Need to Be Happy* (
).
Happiness is often a byproduct of a powerful and effective life, not the primary goal. Many people desperately chase after happiness, assuming that it will bring them a meaningful and influential life. However, this approach is doomed to fail. Happiness cannot be forced or pursued; it is something that naturally follows a life lived with intention and impact.
The reality is that most people will never lead a purposeful, self-created life. They settle for what they’ve been given, born as slaves to circumstance, dying as slaves. This mindset of pursuing happiness as an end in itself keeps them trapped in an endless cycle of dissatisfaction and frustration.
