What are some hard truths that most other people ignore? You can read about them below.
1. To be strong, you must allow yourself to be empowered.
It is pointless to provide someone with the tools for success if they are not committed to what they want to achieve. Ultimately, a supportive environment serves only as a catalyst. The entrepreneur must bring about the transformation themselves. As an entrepreneur, you must therefore give it your all and act with complete commitment. Be clear about what you want to create or solve, and gather the necessary information. Then develop and master the right skills. If you aren’t dedicated, you’re doomed to fail before you even start. Don’t seek guidance until you’re ready to meet these conditions.
2. Be realistic about what you think you deserve.
What you deserve is what you have right now. The only reason you don’t have more is because you haven’t created more. Some people feel they are entitled to more than they have created. In other words: they feel special. Successful people are those who add so much value to the lives of others that they are richly rewarded for it. Certain groups and politicians will try to convince you that you are special simply because you are alive. If you believe this, you are not special. You have been misled.
3. It's exhausting to talk endlessly about plans you'll never carry out.
Unfortunately, this fact doesn’t stop some people from dwelling on it. The reason they don’t follow through on what they say is that they haven’t truly committed to it. Otherwise, they would already be working on it and moving on with their lives.
4. Overpreparing only makes the actual execution more difficult.
This is also known as overcompensation. The extra effort actually makes the problem in your mind seem bigger, which ultimately makes it harder to deal with. If you plan to give a speech but have no experience doing so, it makes sense to take a public speaking course and practice your speech with people you know. But if you put off the presentation for months and insist on taking three courses and reading six books on the subject, that’s a massive overcompensation for your inexperience. Excessive planning and analysis are nothing more than unworkable ways of dealing with fear.
5. People who claim to be satisfied with poor results often misrepresent other matters as well.
No one is satisfied with mediocrity, no matter how strongly they try to convince themselves and others of this. They simply lower their standards for success. Over time, they learn to settle for less because it’s comfortable. At first, this makes them feel very uncomfortable, but by constantly telling themselves a false narrative, they become blind to the reality they’ve created for themselves.
6. A successful entrepreneur applies what they have learned in practice.
Reading a self-help book is an inexpensive way to learn. Attending a seminar is a relatively expensive way to learn something. Unfortunately, many people waste these experiences by using them for superficial insights or entertainment. This leads to little, if any, results. They are satisfied with new information they can discuss with friends and family. They usually fail to realize what it takes to apply the knowledge they’ve gained. Powerful entrepreneurs don’t play this game. They constantly ask themselves how they can put information to practical use. For the successful entrepreneur, it doesn’t matter how relevant or useful theory is. They know that everything is useless until it is put into practice.
7. The only thing you need to know to change your life is that only you can change your life.
Successful entrepreneurs understand this distinction and act on it. The struggling entrepreneur is always looking for something or someone to provide the final piece of the puzzle. Powerful people don’t look. They create.
8. Every time you back down, your world gets smaller.
Success means doing something with sincerity and total dedication. Success means holding nothing back. Success means being so focused on your goal that you don’t have time to worry, complain, daydream, or give in to other distractions. Success means doing whatever it takes to achieve your desired result.
9. Pretending that financial results don't matter to you won't get you anywhere.
Besides, intelligent people don’t fall for this act. Creating a weak definition of success as an excuse to take the easy way out gets you nowhere. If you struggle to save money for retirement or can’t live comfortably because of a lack of funds, you’re not successful. If you’re not happy, you’re not successful. If you don’t earn enough to pay for your children’s education, you’re not successful. If you pretend to be enlightened and above achieving concrete results, you are not successful. If you believe your own excuses, you are not successful. If you get angry while reading this, you are not successful.
10. Being effective means having the willingness, ability, and speed to turn ideas into results.
No matter how brilliant they may be, ideas will always fade away unless you bring them into the real world. It’s painful to look back on plans that could have made a real difference in your life but were never carried out.
11. You didn’t choose the life you were born into, but you are responsible for it.
Unfortunately, some people didn’t have the most caring parents or a supportive environment growing up. Perhaps some very difficult things even happened. The good news is that those days are behind you. You no longer have to live in the past. You’re living in the present, and you’re shaping your own future through the actions you take right now.
12. People and things fall into disrepair unless they are constantly being created.
This is a harsh reality, but also the most obvious one. If you don’t pay attention to your body, it will become listless, weak, and the aging process will accelerate. If you don’t pay attention to your business, it will shrink and eventually disappear. Entrepreneurs who excel are constantly creating and reinventing themselves and their businesses time and time again.
13. When you surround yourself with people who have lower aspirations than you, you don’t feel the need to grow.
It’s pleasant and safe to do this. It’s also selfish and superficial. Deliberately playing it safe has inevitable consequences. It’s our job to build a life for ourselves that’s worth living. If you wait for inspiration from outside, you’ll only live a reactive life. Inspire yourself.
